As Julia revels in her work to maintain Barnabas' secrets, he remains unconvinced that her hypnotism of Maggie will remain successful.
Now desperate, he renews his plans to kill Maggie. Maggie's return to Collinsport sends shockwaves through the community. Barnabas is terrified to learn that the girl's memory has returned, but Julia's intervention prevents him being exposed.
Maggie's memory returns to normal except for the period of time which she was abducted. Victoria, Barnabas and Burke share an uneasy evening in each other's company.
Sarah appears to Maggie in her room at Windcliff and engineers her escape, leading her back to Collinsport. Maggie walks into the Blue Whale and passes out.
Victoria is overjoyed to discover an archaic house near the seafront. Burke hints to Barnabas that he is suspicious of his past and of the influence he has on Victoria, with intentions to investigate.
Julia's presence at the Old House arouses Woodard's suspicions. Meanwhile, Sarah reveals to David that Maggie is still alive.
After doubting her presence, Victoria finds Sarah's cap on the floor. Barnabas is outraged by Julia's gloating revelation that she knows his secret and is determined to kill her.
However, she makes an intriguing offer that saves her life and offers him hope. Julia tells Barnabas that she may be able to cure his "condition".
Victoria begins to develop a fear of the past. Julia implies that she knows something about the "original" Barnabas Collins that Barnabas would be interested in.
Barnabas goes to Julia's bedroom during the night, intent on killing her, but is shocked to discover that she is waiting for him. Barnabas finds himself unable to attack Victoria.

As she sleeps in Josette's room, Victoria is awakened by Sarah's singing. Barnabas begs Willie to prevent him from attacking Victoria and is shocked at the discovery of Sarah's ball.
Carolyn and Burke are concerned that Victoria is becoming to wrapped up in Josette and the past. As Victoria pays an evening visit to the Old House, a violent storm prevents her from returning to Collinwood.
Julia is intrigued to see that Maggie reacts to Barnabas' name in fear and decides that the clues lead to the Collinwood estate.
Julia arrives at Collinwood, where she poses as a visiting historian. Burke is unimpressed by the music box and Victoria's growing interest in the life of Josette.
Later, they almost encounter Julia and Maggie, as they visit the cemetery in an attempt to restore her memory. Maggie becomes upset when Julia takes her to the Collins Mausoleum.
Elizabeth is concerned that Victoria is becoming obsessed with Josette Collins. Maggie's fragmented memories seem to lead back to the Eagle Hill Cemetery, making Julia decide that they should pay it a visit.
The music box has a marked effect on Victoria's behaviour. Barnabas gives Victoria the music box as a gift. While the residents of Collinwood enjoy Barnabas' hospitality at the party, Elizabeth senses a ghostly presence.
Barnabas is very reluctant. Victoria goes into a trance. Victoria and Carolyn prepare for the party the next evening.
At the request of Victoria, a reluctant Barnabas invites Burke to the costume party, indulgently suggesting that he adopt the guise of Jeremiah Collins, his old rival.
Barnabas plans the costume party. Victoria is very excited about the party, but Elizabeth still has some reservations. Victoria selects one of Josette's dresses from the Old House to wear at Barnabas' costume party.
Later Sarah appears and finds her dress. In an attempt to gain Victoria's affections and divert Elizabeth from her recent troubles, Barnabas decides to hold an ancestral costume party, suggesting that Victoria goes as Josette.
At first Elizabeth is reluctant, but later agrees to go to the party. Barnabas and Willie dispose of Jason's body in the mausoleum, where Sarah appears by her grave.
Meanwhile, Maggie recognises Sam's sketch of Sarah and continues to reveal fragmented memories. Later, Sarah appears at the mausoleum. Carolyn comes home and finds out how her mother did not kill her father.
Jason demands that Willie gives him access to Barnabas' valuables, in spite of Willie's protestations that he is in danger. Convinced that the jewels are hidden in Barnabas' coffin, Jason opens it and is strangled.
His blackmail plan defeated, a humiliated Jason is ordered to leave town by the Sheriff. Spying on Willie and Barnabas exchanging jewels, Jason decides to break into the Old House and steal.
Barnabas plans to make Victoria his next "Josette". Burke and Sheriff Paterson open the trunk and find it empty. Jason is forced to admit that Paul was not killed by Elizabeth and that he engineered Paul's disappearance.
Elizabeth refuses to allow Jason to be arrested. After explaining what happened 18 years earlier Elizabeth calls the sheriff, Jason claims that there is nothing in the basement.
Jason runs off and Roger and Burke search for him. Sheriff Patterson and Burke uncover an old trunk. Elizabeth tells the story how she killed Paul Stoddard 18 years earlier.
Paul was only interested in money, and was going to walk out on the Elizabeth and Carolyn. Elizabeth killed Paul, and and of the deal she struck with Jason to conceal the murder.
Jason gives Carolyn an ultimatum to leave Collinwood. As the wedding begins Carolyn prepares to shoot Jason. At her wedding, Elizabeth breaks down and reveals to the shocked congregation that she killed Paul Stoddard with Jason as her accomplice.
Victoria intercepts Elizabeth at Widows' Hill and prevents her from jumping to her death. Burke's attempts to confront Jason with proof of his crimes have little effect.
Elizabeth says her goodbyes to David and Carolyn. Elizabeth writes the date of her death in the family Bible.
Elizabeth prepares to jump from Widows' Hill, haunted by the wails of its ghosts. Barnabas finds Elizabeth on the edge of Widows' Hill looking like she will jump.
Victoria continues to fear for Elizabeth's state of mind. David shows Victoria the family Bible, containing the death dates of the whole family.
Elizabeth fills in a date for her death. Elizabeth is tormented by dreams of the three widows and seems troubled and preoccupied as the wedding approaches.
Mrs Johnson prevents her from jumping from Widows' Hill and takes her back to the house. Maggie undergoes therapy with Dr. Julia Hoffman, who continues to try and restore her personality from the childlike state of her trauma.
Joe and Sam are sceptical of this approach. Roger tells Barnabas that somehow Jason is forcing Elizabeth into marriage. Jason revels in his new status as head of the household.
Barnabas talks with Jason who starts to ask questions about where he goes in the daytime. Carolyn is angry that Victoria is going to be Elizabeth's witness at the wedding.
Sam and Joe struggle with their consciences, but ultimately decide that they cannot risk Maggie's safety by confiding in Victoria.
Carolyn continues to victimise Elizabeth. Victoria and Carolyn are devastated to learn the news of Maggie's death.
Carolyn is determined to hurt her mother. Elizabeth is troubled by Carolyn's developing relationship with Buzz Hackett and asks Victoria to be witness at her wedding.
Maggie manages to escape to the beach and is discovered by Sam. Woodard remains concerned for Maggie's safety and decides to announce that Maggie died of shock, while she is sent away for treatment.
Barnabas plans to kill Maggie. Sarah tells Maggie a cryptic riddle which offers her an escape route. Uncovering a secret passage in her cell, Maggie disappears into the darkness, stalked by a malevolent Barnabas.
Carolyn gets arrested after driving drunk and nearly killing someone. After Victoria hears Elizabeth sobbing, she confronts her and demands to know why.
A distraught Elizabeth confides in Victoria that she murdered her husband Paul and that Jason knows. Maggie is intrigued by the appearance of Sarah in her cell and talks with her at length.
Willie later tries to convince Maggie that no one could have visited her, but Maggie finds Sarah's doll. Buzz comes to see Carolyn, Elizabeth opens the door but doesn't let him in.
Carolyn and Elizabeth argue about the men in their lives. Jason gives Buzz money so he wouldn't marry Carolyn, but Buzz refuses. Maggie sees Sarah singing.
Later David meets Sarah who claims to be lost and plays with her for a while. Victoria and David speak about Carolyn and Buzz and the girl David played with.
Maggie refuses to be Josette. Sam finds out, while beeing in Barnabas house, that an unidentified body has been found and the police think it is Maggie.
The little girl being Sarah Collins. Jason forces Elizabeth to marry him and set up a date. Elizabeth announces that she will marry Jason and an upset Carolyn claims she will marry Buzz on the same day.
Maggie gives Willie her ring, so someone would find her. Willie drops the ring during the time David comes to the house. David finds the ring on the ground.
Barnabas gets the ring back before anyone can figure out who it belongs to. Carolyn is upset that her mother will marry Jason. She starts dating Buzz Hackett, a motorcyclist.
Barnabas plans to kill Maggie after she tried to kill him in his coffin. Willie convinces Barnabas not to kill her. Barnabas vows that she will become Josette, although Maggie tries to resist.
Maggie tries to kill Barnabas after finding out that Willie made a coffin for her. But Barnabas wakes up in time to stop her. After Jason convinces Elizabeth to open the basement door, she does it but Carolyn, Victoria and Roger find nothing there.
Barnabas puts Maggie in his coffin. Willie lets her out and then locks her up in Josette's room. After Sam comes in the Old House to work on the portrait, he forgets his pipe.
Maggie finds the pipe, she escapes and she is seen by Sam. Elizabeth starts the divorce against Paul Stoddard so she can marry Jason.
Carolyn thinks Jason has something on her mother - the key for a room in the basement. Willie has to give a blood sample to Dr.
Barnabas swaps Willie's slide for another sample so Dr. Woodard is unable to find anything. Jason blackmails Elizabeth so she would marry him. Elizabeth tries to tell Carolyn the truth but she doesn't listen forcing Elizabeth to accept Jason's proposal.
Willie's symptoms are like those of Maggie. Woodard wants Willie's blood to analyze it. Roger suspects that Elizabeth is paying money to Jason because Jason has something on Elizabeth, so Elizabeth stops paying him.
David speaks with Maggie, but thinking she is Josette. Barnabas, Roger and Victoria talk to David about trespassing so he wouldn't go to the Old House uninvited.
David sneaks down to the Old House to search for Josette, Barnabas catches him and tells angrily, that he should not trespass.
David sneaks back to Old House and sees Maggie, but he thinks she it is Josette. Sam comes to the Old House so he can tell Barnabas that he can't work on the portrait while his daughter is missing.
Maggie hears their discussion. Victoria and Carolyn go to the Old House to see what restoration on the house has been made.
Jason tries to convince Willie to leave town as he attracting too much attention. The sheriff suspects Willie to be somehow involve in what happens in Collinsport.
Joe and Burke go to the Old House to see Willie. Maggie is missing. Woodard believes that she is dead. Barnabas gives Maggie a music box.
Maggie is found unconscious. She is taken to the hospital. After the nurse leaves, Maggie disappears and the window is wide open.
Barnabas beats Willie for the tip he gave when Maggie disappeared. Sam comes over to work on Barnabas' portrait. During a storm the lights go out.
Barnabas tells Carolyn and Victoria the story of Josette. Victoria tells Barnabas that someone phoned and tipped her about where Maggie can be found when she disappeared.
Maggie seems to feel better but then asks Joe to leave. Victoria comes over to watch over Maggie. Jason asks Willie about Maggie's disappearance but Willie tells him to stop asking questions.
Victoria and Burke search for Maggie. Willie betrays Barnabas and Barnabas beats him. After Maggie is taken home, everyone sees the fang marks on her neck.
Maggie's health worsens so Sam calls the doctor. Victoria notices that Maggie's symptoms are the same as Willie's.
Jason gets a job at the Collins cannery. Carolyn finds out that her father's belongings are stored in the locked room in the basement and wants to get the key to open the room.
Maggie passes out at the coffee shop after feeling tired and dizzy. At night, Barnabas breaks in Maggie's bedroom. Maggie has a nightmare.
She meets Barnabas at the Blue Whale and as she leaves Barnabas wishes her "sweet dreams". Later that night Barnabas enters her room.
David wants Josette's portrait, but Barnabas tells him that the portrait belongs to the Old House but he can come to visit it. Elizabeth tells Barnabas to fire Willie, but he refuses.
Victoria tells Elizabeth that Willie works for Barnabas. She goes to the Old House to speak with Barnabas. David doesn't like the changes made to the Old House.
Victoria visits the Old House and finds Willie who now works for Barnabas. Barnabas commissions Sam, Maggie's father, to do a painting but to work only at night.
Willie gets better. Elizabeth lets Barnabas in the Old House and Willie joins him. Barnabas asks Elizabeth to let him stay in the Old House.
Jason after meeting Barnabas, sees the resemblance between the portrait on the wall and Barnabas. Willie tries to leave the house and sneaks out.
Jason follows him, but when Willie enters the secret room in the mausoleum he is unable to follow him. Willie goes to Collinwood to apologize but passes out when seeing a portrait of Barnabas.
Jason convinces Elizabeth to let Willie stay until he is better. Willie goes to the Blue Whale. Jason notices blood on Willie's sleeve. Willie is visibly shaken.
Barnabs meets Victoria at the Old House. He tells Victoria about the history of the Old House. Roger and Carolyn meet Barnabas at the Collinwood.
They are both astonished by how much he looks like the original Barnabas Collins. Jason tries to get more money out of Elizabeth, which upsets her because she still does not know whether Willie Loomis has left town.
Carolyn thinks that Jason is holding something against her mother. Jason warns Carolyn that if she doesn't stop asking questions her mother will get into trouble.
Elizabeth is disturbed by Willie's disappearance. While she did want him to leave, he did not take any of his belongings or the money Elizabeth offered him with him.
At Collinwood, Mrs. Johnson opens the door and finds a man who asks for Elizabeth. Johnson goes to tell Elizabeth, but first asks the man's name.
He tells her his name is Barnabas Collins - the name of the man in the portrait that is hanging in the foyer at that moment.
Everyone at Collinwood now believes that Will will soon be leaving town. Meanwhile, Willie Loomis attempts to open the tomb of Naomi Collins, hoping to find some of her jewelry buried with her.
He finds a secret room. Thinking that there might be jewels inside it, he opens the coffin. A hand comes out of the coffin and grabs his throat.
While looking into Naomi Collins, whom is said to be buried with her jewelry, Willie hears a heartbeat in Collins Mausoleum.
Willie is fascinated by the jewels in Barnabas' portrait. Burke offers his support to Elizabeth. Willie continues to be fascinated by the jewels in Barnabas' portrait.
Willie becomes intrigued by the portrait of Barnabas. Carolyn tells Elizabeth how Willie harassed her. Willie continues to harass people and act arrogant, and nearly gets in a fight with Burke.
Carolyn is appalled by Willie's advances and uses a gun to scare him off. Both she and Victoria are disturbed by his antisocial behaviour and propensity for violence.
Willie and Jason argue about his coming to stay at Collinwood. Victoria finds herself the disgusted victim of Willie's lecherous advances and is especially concerned by the way in which Elizabeth seems unable to intervene.
Joe almost comes to blows with Willie Loomis at the Blue Whale after lewd comments are made to Maggie. Carolyn asks Jason about her father.
Willie later joins Jason as a guest at Collinwood, in spite of Elizabeth's protestations. Burke and Sam confront Roger. Roger is forced to confess that it was him that drove the car that killed a man 10 years earlier, not Burke.
Elizabeth is distraught to learn the truth and Roger is left devastated. Sam explains to Maggie why he let Roger buy his silence. A broken Sam admits to Burke the truth of his involvement in providing Roger with an alibi for the car accident.
Maggie releases that the paintings were sold to Roger as a cover for a bribe. Elizabeth stops Roger from gaining access to the locked room in the basement.
