After cutting off Frederick's right hand, Zeus throws him into an arena with Apple. The Kid arrives to intervene, but his wrist weapon fails to fire due to a low charge.
He is then captured and thrown into the arena, where he, Frederick, and Apple defeat Zeus' warriors and escape.
The Kid discovers that Apple is a robot after seeing her survive a gunshot during their escape. She tells him that she is a friendship model.
Because of damage to her circuitry, they contact Bagu, who directs them to the robot graveyard, where they can find spare parts. When Bagu is captured and tortured to death, he reveals their location to Zeus, who sends his henchmen.
The Kid and Apple evade capture during the chase, but Apple is decapitated by Skeletron, Zeus' lead henchman. The Kid attaches Apple's head to a new robot body and falls unconscious to the graveyard's toxic fumes.
He later wakes to find that Frederick, who now has a robotic hand, has rescued him; Frederick says Apple could not be reactivated.
They return to Zeus' camp to kill him. The Kid reveals that Zeus killed his parents for their water when he was a child. Using the wrist weapon, he blasts Zeus and his remaining henchmen.
However, Zeus rises and reveals himself also to be a robot, a corporate model designed to ruthlessly conquer all competition.
The Kid blows him up by shooting explosives that Frederick brought along with them. Apple dies while protecting The Kid from the blast.
Then to top it off you have friggin Michael Ironside as your big villain. It doesn't get more awesome then that. This thing couldn't be more 80s if the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles showed up.
The good ones, not the new ones I desperately need a Turbo Kid prequel focused solely on Apple. Oh, and the line with the subtle Soylent Green nod was glorious.
I will say that Michael Ironside is perfectly cast as the heavy. The story is fun, unique, and satisfying. Other than seeing the DVD cover a million times I knew nothing about this going in.
Was so much bloody fun, literally. Gotta love the umbrella for the bloodshed! Munro Chambers and Lawrence Leboeuf were great and Michael Ironside looked like he was having a blast.
The fights were splat-tastic and pretty hilarious at times. The post-apocalyptic feel was so good and I adored the 80s games sounding soundtrack.
Habe den Streifen vor knapp 2 Jahren erstmalig versucht zu schauen. Keine Ahnung- Damals war ich wohl nicht in Stimmung und mich hat gesehenes nicht wirklich abgeholt.
Beileibe kein Totalversagen, von mir aber dann doch recht schnell vergessen und folgend kaum mehr Beachtung bekommen. Kann allerdings auch an den Lobpreisungen gelegen haben, die ich seinerzeit mehrheitlich vor Augen hatte und meine Erwartungen einfach zu hoch angesetzt haben.
Und tatsächlich, diesmal hat es "Klick" gemacht. Nach einer weltweiten Apokalypse leben die übergebliebenen Menschen im hinterlassenen "Ödland" und kämpfen um Wasser.
Der junge "Turbo Kid" lernt ein Mädchen kennen, freundet sich schnell mit ihr an und gerät in eine Spirale der Gewalt. Am Ende kommt ein total verrückter und abgedrehter Film heraus, der mit seinen trashig-aussehenden Splatter Sequenzen, einer wunderschönen Lovestory zwischen den Protagonisten, einer teilweise unfassbar schönen und beeindruckenden Optik und den kreativen Dialogen eine wunderbare Erfahrung erschafft.
Sympathischer auf Trash getrimmter Endzeitspass mit hohem Splattergehalt. Laurence Lebouef gibt hier als Apple wohl den niedlichsten Cyborg der Filmgeschichte.
Zudem macht der Synthie Pop-Sondtrack gute Laune. What a perfect perfect soundtrack. I would really want to see this movie as a music video instead of a movie.

The plot is simple but goes with the overall campy vibe of the movie while still delivering a powerful emotional punch, and the film has a phenomenal cast of fun colorful characters Apple is my favorite to help carry the story and get you immersed into the world.
The cinematography it magnificent and the music is so beautiful and unique with its old retro synth style tracks, it truly is an all around masterpiece in my opinion.
