A missed opportunity to tell the correct story. What a load of rubbish! Why did they think it right to change the timeline of events?
Some of these inaccuracies make me really angry. Example, Prior to Live Aid Roger says the band haven't played together for years!
Now I see why Sacha Baron Cohen bailed out on this. Couldn't even watch it to the end. I'll just keep listening to those brilliant albums that they did and pretend I never saw this drivel.
We saw this in cinema first time and were blown away. By various things actually, two of which are cinema-related and hard to replicate at home.
First of all it was the atmosphere in the packed cinema, as a non-native there was almost a sense of religion and cultural heritage from the very diverse crowd all solemnly coming out to see about good old Freddy.
Secondly, we were even more overwhelmed by the music and the Wembley performance in particular, simply phenomenal and unprecedented to experience in an intimate manner on the big screen.
Thirdly there is acting, much will have been said about that. About Rami Malek in particular. But I would just leave it at how well the actors have been cast given their very close likeness.
And the fourth thing that really stood out is the storyline and tone of the movie; it could have been progressively dark story slipping towards a dramatic end, in the style of Jim Morrison, Amy Winehouse ect..
So you get very little of that. Instead, the movie has more uplifting tone and it is more is about creative genius, a band career, friendship and reconciliation.
That if anything it is a big celebration of Queen.
