This is my favorite Dragon Ball Z Movie. It's also the perfect introduction DragonBall Super. We get to see the God of Destruction along with his assistance going to earth in search of the Legendary Super Saiyan God.
Only to find Goku can't become it unless he combines his powers with 5 others. Then the amazing battle begins.
If you watch this movie first then you can essentially skip many of the first episodes of the series because it covers it all, not to mention this version of the story is far superior without it dragging on for ages.
The music selection was also incredible. The thing that surprised me was the humor in the movie. I actual laughed out loud at multiple different points, somethign I don't recall being so prominent in the series.
Anyway, the plot was decent, the action was cool, and there were some absolutely hilarious moments. I'd check it out if you are a fan on the series.
I've heard a few people say this movie is a little dull due to it's lack of fight scenes, but I want to tell you that any Dragonball Z fan will not be disappointed by this film.
I personally was most trepidatious about the introduction of a new character, Lord Beerus. On first glance he doesn't quite seem to be very visually appealing.
However, I was happy to find that during the movie I fell more and more in love with this "God of Destruction".
He finds a way to be charismatic, comedic, and still hold true to his own title. Of course that purple cat thing isn't all the movie has going for it.
Almost anyone you could ask for comes back in the move, mostly for a good laugh but then again this movie really isn't all about it's fight scenes.
Not to mention all the art and even the few 3Dish CG scenes are all top quality. This has got to be one of my favorite Dragonball Z movies.
Love the series I didn't notice the language on the movie, not sure type of language but is not English. This film is great, highly recommended.
Its very well animated and well written and the action scenes are cool. I would have liked to see other fighters than just Goku and Vegeta play a larger role in the battle, but Beerus is kind of over powered.
Anyway, definitely watch it if you haven't yet. If you watched it when it first came out in Japanese, do yourself a favor and watch this dub.

Huge Dragon Ball Z fan, this release was awesome. The package comes with two blu-ray boxes. One for each movie, with a nice cardboard cover. Each Disc comes with the standard extras, trailers and interviews with the English cast.
Additionally The battle of gods has both the theatrical and uncut versions of the movie. Both have the english dub and Japanese dub, with english subtitles.
Having been a fan of Dragon Ball and watched all the episodes growing up, I knew what to expect.
Stunning animations, epic fight scenes. Back then Dragon Ball had set the standard for fighting in anime. How does this film compare to TV show.
I feel as though this improves upon the standard set by the TV show and still has all the charm from the series as well as the fighting. The story is set after the events of the majin buu saga, when Beerus the god of destruction wakes up and begins looking for a super-saiyain god.
Which leads him to Earth. I'm not going to go into to much detail as it will spoil it. Something happens which causes Beerus to become angered and wants to destroy the world.
That for me makes this film awesome. It captures all that people love about the Dragon Ball series into a film.
To be honest I never really went looking for any problems, even watching for the third time I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time.
The animation is top notch, the voice acting is awesome, the music gets you into the action. I recommend this film to any Dragon Ball fan, you won't regret watching it.
As I ordered this I was hoping it would do the original series justice after all these years and by God it definitely did.
It was so refreshing with the brilliant new graphics and effects but the originality was still there with the voice actors and the humour.
Thoroughly enjoyable watch. I love how it almost homages itself and throws in so many little references to dragonball and z. Very nice all round film leaving us with the potential for greater more powerful opponents that are sure to get Goku drooling with anticipation.
